In order to expand the formulation of filing health food products, according to relevant national food safety standards and the status of registered products, the SAMR organized draft of technical requirements for the filing of gummy and powders, and revised the Available Auxiliary Ingredients and the Use Regulations for Filing Health Food (2020 Edition) (Draft for Comments) and Dosage Form and Main Production Processes of Filing Health Food (2020 Edition) (Draft for Comments). The deadline for comments is September 28, 2020.

Powder is a dry powdered product made of ingredients and auxiliary ingredients after crushing and uniform mixing.

Gummy is an elastic and chewy candy made of sugar or syrup or sweetener, edible gum (or starch) and other main ingredients through the relevant process.

According to the current version of Main Production Process for Filing Health Food (Trial), the filing health food is applicable to the process for the formats including tablets, hard capsule, soft capsule, granule and oral liquids, which do not include gummy, powder and other dosage forms. As a food format, powder has been approved for nearly 800 registered health foods. Gummy is a kind of candy, and it has been approved in registered health food as a food format.

In this solicitation of opinions, two dosage forms of gummy and powder are included in the filing health food dosage forms, further expanding the food formats available for filing health food products, and bringing more food formats into filing health food management.

Moreover, on August 12, 2020, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued an announcement on the public soliciting opinions on the technical requirements of five materials in the List of Health Food Raw Material of the filling health food including Coenzyme Q10 (draft for comments), and solicited comments on related supporting documents.
