In recent years, the government has issued a series of policies to strengthen supervision of CBEC.

On the one hand, the product information should be authentic and not mislead consumers. On the other hand, platform can make its own specifications. CBEC is not outside the law.

On October 26, 2020, Tmall International released Tmall International Cross-border Prepackaged Food Products Technical Specification Supplementary Requirements for Complementary Foods for Infants and Young Children and Tmall Global Cross-border Prepackaged Food Products Technical Specification Supplementary Requirements for Infant and Young Children Formula, aiming to better regulate the quality of goods of suppliers and merchants and improve the overall quality of Tmall Global infant and young children formula food.

It is reported that this year, Tmall Global released a series of technical specifications for prepackaged food products, including general requirements for prepackaged food, supplement requirements for health food, supplement requirements for nuts and seeds fried food, supplement requirements for meat products, supplement requirements for edible vegetable oil, supplement requirements for confectionery products, supplement requirements for cocoa and coffee products, supplement requirements for fruit products, supplement requirements for dairy products, supplement requirements for food processing products, supplement requirements for cubilose, supplement requirements for beverage and supplement requirements for biscuits and pastries.

These technical specifications are developed by Tmall Global in accordance with domestic and international standards, and are applicable to prepackaged food sold in Tmall Global through cross-border bonded and direct mail trade modes, and stipulate the labeling requirements, raw and auxiliary material requirements, general technical requirements, external quality requirements, validity requirements, and release requirements for Tmall Global prepackaged food.

Among them, the General Requirements apply to all categories of prepackaged food. The Supplementary Requirements set out requirements for specific categories of food, covering contaminants, food additives, and physical and chemical indicators of food.
