How to Define Formulated milk powder?

Formulated milk powder means powder product that produced from raw bovine milk or ovine milk or its processed products as the major ingredient, with addition of other ingredients, with or without addition of food additives and nutritional fortification substances, and the content of milk solids is not less than 70% in final product.

Therefore, the products using the whole milk powder, skimmed milk powder or partial skimmed milk powder as the main raw material, which meet the GB 19644-2010 Food Safety National Standard Milk Powder belong to formulated milk powders.

Some products remove the protein and fat in the milk solids, add soy protein and other auxiliary materials, the lactose and inorganic salt content of final product not less than 70%. Because of replacing the milk protein with soy protein, it no longer belongs to the formulated milk powder.
