Lists of Species that Can be Used in Food&Infants Food (Drafts)

On October 28, 2021, China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) publicly solicited opinions on the List of Species that Can be Used in Food and the List of Species that Can be Used in Infants and Young Children Food. The deadline for comments is November 28, 2021. The Drafts combined with international adjustments to the classification and naming of bacterial species (strains), and updated the two Lists. The 16 species that can be used in food and 7 species that can be used in infant and young children food in the announcement will be approved successively to the corresponding lists. At the same time, the translations of Chinese name of species have been standardized, and the species in the List of Species that Can be Used in Food have been specific to subspecies, and the details are as follows:

*Note: 1. The species traditionally used in food production and processing are allowed to continue to be used. New species not in the List should be implemented in accordance with the Management Measures for Novel Food Ingredients.

2. The species that can be used in infants and young children food should be implemented in accordance with the current regulations, and the list should be formulated separately.
