Currently, there are many products on the market with nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) as the main ingredient or raw material. On January 13, 2021, SAMR issued the Letter of the Inspection of Illegal Sales of “Ageless Medicine”, which clearly points out that NMN in China has not obtained any licenses such as medicine, health food, food additive and novel food, thus, it cannot be produced and sold as food. Although some countries have approved NMN for food production and sale, it is illegal to sell food produced with NMN as food raw material in China.
