What is the scope of allowed import of food additives?
(1) There are national food safety standards;
(2) Approved, published and included in the catalogue of food additives permitted in China by the health administrative department of the State Council;
(3) Those listed in the Standards for the Uses of Food Additives (GB 2760) and Standard for the Use of Nutritional Fortification Substances (GB 14880);
(4) Those listed in the "Catalogue of Food Additives with Import Records before the Implementation of the Food Safety Law but No National Food Safety Standards". In addition, regarding the requirements for labels of imported food additives, please follow Article 97 of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, which stipulates that imported prepackaged food and food additive shall have Chinese labels. If instruction is required by laws or regulations, the instruction in Chinese shall be provided. Labels and instructions shall comply with this Law and provisions of other laws, regulations and food safety standards; the instructions shall indicate county of origin, Chinese domestic agent's name, address and contact information. Instructions for food additives shall be placed in the outer package of food additives, and direct contact with additives shall be avoided. The labels, instructions and packages of imported food additives shall not be separated.
